Executive Director

The Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley has an opening for the position of Executive Director. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 5 years experience in an animal welfare capacity; possess a demonstrated track record of success in nonprofit management with an emphasis on fund raising, board development, program implementation, finance/budgeting, and public relations.

The Executive Director, in partnership with the board of directors, will guide and shape the organization's mission, vision and philosophy, expand and enhance the visibility and quality of programs. Selected candidates will have strong communication, planning, organizational and financial management skills, as well as the ability to create a presence in the community.

Veterinarian

The veterinarian will have responsibility for all animals in the clinic assuring that their care and treatment are the highest quality and consistent with the policies of the clinic and with the highest standards of current veterinary practice. The veterinarian will be responsible for the following:

1) Sterilization surgery for up to 40 animals per day
2) Coordination of the Society's medical staff and walk-in vaccination clinic
3) Examination, treatment, or referral of certain animals brought to the clinic in accordance with HSSBV policy
4) Euthanasia of certain animals in accordance with HSSBV policies and procedures
5) Provide oversight to ordering, inventorying and budgeting medical and surgical supplies
6) Ensure compliance with veterinary medical standards, practices, and procedures
7) Provide support to management personnel to ensure an effective work environment


Field Officer - Humane Investigator

The humane investigator will be a compassionate and 'hands-on' individual who investigates and responds to routine and exceptional animal cruelty/ neglect complaints, prepares cases for prosecution, and inspects animal shelters, pet shops and other facilities. Must have good verbal/ writing skills, and ability to interact effectively with people at various levels.


R.V.T.

A California State licensed position. To provide medical care and assistance to animals in the clinic. This includes animals here for surgery, vaccinations, free examinations and euthanasia. Supports the role as AHT to include being called upon to work in surgery/ recovery areas and to perform miscellaneous duties in support of the receptionist.


Clinic Manager (POSITION NOW FILLED)

A valid Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred but not required. Must be a High school graduate or equivalent. Have the knowledge and ability to prepare and implement budgets and knowledge of general surgical procedures and equipment used in an animal health facility. Be committed to and promote the philosophies and image of the Humane Society with staff and the general public. Ability to motivate and manage staff, handle and care for animals in a humane manner, administer first aid and medications to all types of animals. The candidate must establish and maintain harmonious and effective relationships with co-workers, volunteers and the public. Ability to understand and follow Humane Society policies and be flexible, easily adapting to new situations.


Customer Service (POSITION NOW FILLED)

To perform a variety of clinical and secretarial duties, to assure a specified number of surgery appointments daily for the clinic and answer a high volume of incoming phone calls in a timely fashion. Ensures clients are properly taken care of in a professional and courteous manner. Perform other duties as needed.


Receptionist (POSITION NOW FILLED)

Responsible for registering new clients and/ or new patients in the computer and filling out appropriate paperwork for both new and returning clients. Responsible for charging out clients and patients after vaccinations and treatments have been received. Receives payment for services rendered and provides correct change and paperwork to clients. The receptionist educates clients on the benefits of spaying and neutering pets as as well as their well-being. He or she will complete the necessary paperwork for various procedures and and ensure clients are properly taken care of in a professional and courteous manner. Perform other duties as needed.


Vet Assistant (POSITION NOW FILLED)

To provide medical care and assistance for animals in the clinic. This includes animals here for surgery, vaccinations, free examinations and euthanasia.
